Welcome to Girl Travels World!

Welcome to Girl Travels World! I am Demi – the woman behind Girl Travels World.

I am a traveller and writer. I’m originally from Sri Lanka but London is home. I first set up my blog to share my love of travel hoping to inspire others to follow. The response was overwhelming. This was not only on my blog but also on my social media channels.

This journey has led me to places I never dreamt I would go to and I’ve learnt much about myself in the process. Last year I became a Lonely Planet Pathfinder and a member of the International Travel Writers Alliance; two things I had never thought possible. In the same year I became a contributing travel writer for two magazines. I have now learnt to fully and completely trust the process.

Five Things About Me:

  • I’m a practicing Buddhist.
  • I’m bi-lingual. I speak fluent Sinhalese.
  • My weakness is desserts – gets me every time.
  • My secret pleasure is getting manicures and pedicures.
  • I have an inexplicable love of flowers. I have them all around me when I’m home.

  1. I love this quote… “do not live the same year 75 times and call it a life”.
Something I really need to stick too. Im a traveller but can already see myself getting into a “routine”. I think half the enjoyment of travelling is really the spontaneity.

  2. Thanks for being an inspiration 😍 Even as a mum with two young kids we can really “live” life…travelling whenever you please isn’t always possible but doesn’t stop you from traveling even within your own state. I live in Sydney and the diversity is amazing! We discover a different beach every month, spend time in the mountains in Autumn and ski in Winter..the kids have made more friends on the weekends than in school! It doesn’t really matter where you live… Its “how” you live 😚
